Day 61 Two Month Evaluation

In two months, I have lost 25 lbs. and 6 1/2" off my waist. During July, I tested a number of overeating situations to test my diabetes, To date these tests have all turned out positive. I am under a new instruction for my weight training sessions and hope to improve my conditioning. My rate of speed on the treadmill now averages over 3.0 for 30 minutes. Usually doing 10 minutes at 3.5 MPH.

Going into the third month of my new diet, I am still frequently not satisfied because of a habit of filling myself up for years at every meal. I am not physically in need of food. But I call it my obsession. A need to go down and snack as compared to enjoying the light feeling a just satisfied stomach gives one. It is something I am working on. I am still on a super diet eating only raw foods.

Day 60 Super Diet

FRIDAY JULY 30,2004

Today I decided to switch to a super diet. Super meaning "raw" foods only. I thought the vegetables would be less tasty and found the opposite to be true. The raw vegetable route is more powerful in the regeneration of your cells.

Day 59 39.5" and a Shadow

After my new workout yesterday, I woke up this morning to a 39.5 inch waist. The first such reading in over 20 years (with one exception caused by illness). It has been 46 for as long as I can remember. It gave me a real morale boost. I was so enthused I worked right through breakfast and lunch with only a tomato juice and one dried fig. When I came home from the gym to take a shower I noticed a black mark on my stomach. Closer inspection proved it to be a shadow. It was the slightest showing of the top of my six-pack which for all intents and purposes I had forgotten I had. As a test of my my regimen, I tested my sugar count 20 minutes after my dinner. It had fallen to 97. What a miracle. I will continue to monitored it closely.

Day 58 Garlic

Whenever you want a snack, chew one galic clove thoroughly. Try to eat the garlic clove without other foods: it works more vigorously. It works to bring blood pressure down. Since I don't have high blood pressure, I use it as a general arterial cleaner inasmuch as I am loaded with plaque according to my scans. I have always given a quarter of a tablespoon of garlic to my dogs daily and they have never had a flea. Today I begin a regimen of a clove at bedtime.

Day 57 Fasting First Rule

I temporarily forgot my first rule of fasting. Reading health and fasting books to steel yourself against the obsession of breaking your regimen. I remember going to Spain and spending the five days prior to going compulsively reading books on fasting. This pre-progamming worked like a charm. I never had a hunger pain or obsession in 15 days. I tried it again tonight. It worked.

My reading of 127 this AM is a result of eating obessively late last night. I forget about my first rule and tonight I will beat this problem by reading.

Day 56 Dried figs

Fiber occurs naturally in many foods. Fiber isn't digested but travels through the system brushing the intestines clean of debris. Fiber does not remain in the body but accelerates the elimination process. Dried Figs have 5.6 grams of fiber as compared to 1.0 grams in carrots. Dried figs, fresh guavas, rasperries, rice bran, sesame seeds, safflower seed meal all have more than 5 grams of fiber. One should try to eat one of these foods once a day.

Day 55 Its Working, Maybe

I stuffed my face well into the night. I can't remember all I ate. But this morning I expected my blood sugar would read in the 200s. It read 119, safely in control. Wow, it may be working. I will return to a reduced consumption to try to knock off the pounds this experiment caused me. One of the sad problems one experiences on a fast or reduced consumption is the speed with which your body gains weight when you exceed your targeted calories. After fasting for fifteen days in Spain in 1982, I flew to London and gained 10 pounds of the 23 I had lost back in just one day. As George Bernard Shaw cautioned, "Any fool can fast, but it takes a wise one to break his fast." Shaw 1, McDonald 0.

Day 54 Success?

Well I didn't take my meds last night but this morning after shoving down roasted peas late into last night, my reading this morning was still a low 73. Dare I guess some measure of success has been reached through this regimen? It is too soon to tell, but the signs are good. Today I stuffed myself, gained four pounds, yet my blood sugar has only risen to 78 before dinner? This is more support for the success of the regimen.

Day 53 Low Blood Sugar

My sugar readings have been exceedingly low for the last two days. After gym yesterday and a 52 reading, I felt a little weak. So I stuffed myself last night and still had a low blood sugar this morning and this afternoon. Taking my prescription diabetic medications for the last few nights may have "overmedicated" me. It really doesn't make sense. I am not hypogylcemic. I am diabetic. I've never suffered from low blood sugar. Only high blood sugar. I will stop my prescriptions tonight and see if my readings elevate.

Day 52 Abdominals

The most important exercises are those that strengthen the muscles in the human trunk from the hips to the armpits. These are the binding muscles which hold all the vital organs in place. Day 51 Over Protein Fed

From my first readings at 14, the over-feeding of proteins to humans became apparent. It became obvious the more protein eaten the more the Doctors thought you needed to eat. Nutritionally, the excess protein was damaging to your health because of fats and cholesterol. The assimilation of protein by means of meat and dairy sources is suicidal. I never did anything about it until last month. Meat proteins are NOT superior to vegetable protein. All natural foods grown contain all the amino acids, essential and nonessential, in quantities sufficient to satisfy human requirements.

Day 50 Neuropathy

Neuropathy manifests itself as a numbness in a diabetic's legs and feet. With me, numbness runs all the way to just below the knees. If a small pin is stuck in my leg, I can't feel it. The condition affects my balance and a number of other physical activities. One of the main reasons I am on this regimen is to cure my Neuropathy. I have no support for the fact that my efforts would ever be successful. But I have been putting time in at the gym targeting my legs. It appears that some of this effort is working. I have more feeling in my feet and legs than I did when I started. I now can't pinch my leg without it hurting. The bottom of my feet seem to be more sensitive. I plan to increase my efforts to beat this condition.

Day 49 Meds Revisited

This morning my sugar reading was down to 98. After gorging on soybeans and busting through 1,000 calories (1,725) I thought I would have had an elevated reading. Then I remembered that I took a full complement of diabetic medications at bedtime last night so the readings don't really count. They may have been influenced by the drugs. Today, before my 4th meal, however, it had dropped to 78, so my diet is doing its trick.

Day 47 Water or Coke?

We all know that water is important but I've never
seen it written down like this before.

WATER

1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
(Likely applies to half the world population.)

2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so
weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's
metabolism as much as 3%.

4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger
pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a
University of Washington study.

5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses
of water a day could significantly ease back and
joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy
short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and
difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a
printed page.

8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the
risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the
risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50%less
likely to develop bladder cancer.

Are you drinking the amount of water you should every
day? Apparently drink water,lose weight.

Day 46 Distilled Water

Health experts recommend distilled water. They say modern day pollution has poisoned most commercial sources of water. They recommend that you do not drink tap water, bottled waters or any of the elite varieties. There is an alkalinized water, but hard to find. Best to concentrate on safe distilled water and get your minerals from natural unprocessed sources.

Day 45 Alkalinity Ratings

As mentioned previously foods are better in they are high in the akalinity scale. Those foods that rate 7.0 or higher are: Lemons, limes, mangos, all melons, papaya, cantaloupe, dried figs, dried dates, watermelon, Kudzu root, parsley, cayenne, alfalfa sprouts, coconut. try to eat foods that are high in akaline to delay the grim reaper.

Day 44 Exercise and Alkalinity

Exercise is an alkaline-producing activity. However, one must never push past the point of exhaustion as thereafter acid-forming occurs. In other words rational exercise adds to the alkaline in the system. Failing to exercise over long periods of time adds to one's acid condition.

Generalized fatigue, weakness and malaise are the results of an overly acidic body. This comes from years of too many acid foods, lack of water, constipation and failure to absorb nutrients.

The best exercises in order of preference are brisk walking, swimming and bicycling. Other aerobic exercises are good too. tennis, raquetball, weight lifting, track, etc.

Sitting around for ten years doing no exercise whatsoever has left me with one acid body. That thought is going to drive me farther in my exercise regimen. Today I spent 5 hours in 104 degree heat walking around looking at cars with my younger daughter.

My weight hasn't changed in a while. Pritiken says that one must reduce their intake to 600 calories or less a day to maintain a steady decline to your optimum weight. I haven't observed this guideline and need to return to lower caloric intake. In connection with such reduced intake I plan to increase my calorie-burning exercises.

Day 42

My sugar reading are slipping because of the late night obsessions. Either I conquer them or this whole exercise is worthless. Tomorrow is a fast day to rest the sugar count. Strangely today my count dropped to 73 before dinner. On top of that I am on the 2nd. day of diarrhea, a real cleansing of poisons. So let's wait until Wednesday.

Day 41 Artificially Sweetened

Well, I thought I could get away with drinking artificially sweetened Crystal Light. No sugar for diabetis. Right? Wrong. The sweetener is suspected of causing cancer and ruining your eyes, but the clincher is it is rated .5, deeply in the acid-forming category. So squeeze lemon/lime in distilled water.

Day 40 Alkaline/Acid

As I mentioned before, my theory of humans dying of accumulated acidosis is the ultimate penalty for not alkanizing one's body. There are many books on balancing your diet to emphasize keeping the body from being poisoned by acid-forming foods. I picked up a new one entitled "Alkanize or Die." it has devised a scale for judging the Alkaline contents of foods. Neutral foods are rated at 4.0 with Acid-forming foods falling below this scale and alkaline foods falling above this level. For example extremely acid-forming (very harmful to eat) rate at 1.0 to 1.5. For example soft drinks are rated at 1.0. Beef, 1.0, shellfish, 2.0. Whereas, Fruit juices 5.0 to 6.5, celery 6.0, cayenne pepper 7.0.
I will evaluate my diet and determine what side of the fence they fall on.

By pigging out on Tahini/honey and raisins late last night, my sugar reading this morning skied to 153. Both are loaded with sugar (though natural, still sugar) and can't be tolerated again. I got obssevive again last night. Breaking that habit is a primary goal.

Day 37 Salt

Table salt is not a food. There is no good reason to eat salt. It is just another inorganic chemical. You might as well eat dirt. It has no nutritional value, no vitamins, no organic minerals. It robs calcium from the body and attacks mucus linings throughout the body. Rheumatism sufferers will tell you all about what salt does to them. Enough salt occurs naturally in vegetables.

Day 35 Tingling

The mystery of diabetes----how does one reverse the numbness (neurology) that attacks your legs and feet. I have found no definitive answer to what physically occurs, what is its causes. nor how to cure it? With no answers, I've turned to diet and fasting. After a month, my balance is better and I feel a tingling in my feet and legs from time to time. Balance is one of the first things to go after you lose feeling in your legs and feet. Numbness still exists right below my knees.

The right elbow is now completey free of scales and psoriasis. The left elbow is definitely clearing. Wow. Diet and exercise. Keep it up.

Day 34 Happy 4th of July--Improvements

Happy really doesn't cover how I felt this morning. Outside my overall condition improving, I hadn't seen a serious improvement in my physiognomy until early this morning. I happened to look at my feet carefully for the first time in a month. I was shocked. Gone were the dry scaly skin and little white polyps. In their place was clear smooth baby-like skin.

For years my feet were always a problem, The scaly skin had been so severe, I often would pull it off only to find it connected to good skin which caused a wound. For years I had used a razor blade to remove dead skin and quite often cut too deep because I had no feeling in my feet. As a diabeticmI always took care of foot wounds to avoid the amputation that many diabetics suffer. You have no idea having had crusty, flaking, molting-like feet replaced by baby skin. It is almost traumatic. I want this regimen to work so bad. So far. so good.

I have made significant improvements in my conditioning. When I started on the treadmill, I had a hard time going 15 minutes at 2.5 MPH. A month later, I have improved to 3.2 MPH with ease. On the lifecycle, I had trouble doing 60 RPM for 15 muinutes. Now I average 105 RPM with ease. That, of course, is at level 1 which I use to aid in reducing my weight (fast repetitions).

Day 33 Elimination

During and after the fast, mucus eliminates through your urinary track. Cleansing of the colon is primarily a long-term effort. Good food and fasting over time will unburden the colon and eliminate the 10 pounds of poison man carries around with him. In the meantime the poisons are flushed through the urinary track.

The tongue is the best indicator of internal health. A heavily coated tongue indicates poisons are being eliminated. An unhealthy condition exists. Eat and fast to clear the tongue to its pristine state.

Day 32 Reduced Consumption

Reducing consumption is quite often verified in talking to very old people. Surviving that long takes good eating habits. I remember George Burns, who lived to be a 100, decribing his bird-like diet which as I recall would approximate 20% of man's normal consumption.

We eat too much. Too much of bad things. Armed with that knowledge be not weak. Remember the Eskimos. They survived on whale blubber only. A form of fasting-only one food. Remember the body is a self-adjusting engine with great powers but don't ask it to do the impossible. Your cravings are self-adjusting too. Try, it can't hurt.

Day 31-Professor Walford

Professor Walford of UCLA duplicated in the 80s what had been proven in the 20s: that "starving" small animals during their life, extended their lifespan somtimes as long as six times the norm. Of course, this brings into contention the term "starvation". How can an animal live six times its normal lifespan on a starvation diet? Well, it can't. Starvation is the wrong word-reduced consumption is more fitting.

His studies and the books he wrote reach many important conclusions; the most important of which is that man is overfed and it is shortening his life. He contends that eating 60% of what you normally consume will add decades to your life expectancy. At the same time you will be more productive and alert.

Most impressive was the Professor had to kill certain animals because they were living "too long". He needed to evaluate they inner cleanliness. Without exception animals on reduced consumption were free of cancers and pollups whereas normal lived animals on regular diets were filled with cancers and pollups.

How true. When you overeat are you sluggish and want to sleep? If your body is always digesting excess amounts of food, when does it have time to expell the poisons you feed it? Well, Dr Walford has proven the obvious, eat less and eat nourishing foods. Those foods that are not acid-forming.

Even Walford has succumbed to the let's not sacrifice crowd. He wrote a cookbook. If what I am experiencing, you can easily survive without the combination of foods, the combination of which thwarts digestion. The real truth is that it is not what you eat, it is what nourishment you absorb from what you eat that counts. To ask the stomach to use its acid with just one PH level to digest a potpourri of foods with needs for differing levels is counterproductive.
